Almost the entire month of August was blessed with warm, sunny weather which made the various tournaments and play for all of our Members all the more enjoyable. Looks like the "dog days" of summer are somewhat behind us....but then again, there is always and hopefully Indian Summer that will "fall" upon us....Let's keep our fingers crossed... The calendar may say Fall comes in September but I am not ready for Fall just yet...However, September and October offer spectacular weather for Golfing... Lets just pray that nice Golfing weather in Sept. & Oct. is in the cards for us!!
Aeration on the Greens was done and completed a few weeks ago, and the Greens are back in good playing condition for you, the Members....Tees have now been aerated, sliced and seeded and the fairways will follow the week after the Member Guest....
Please take note! The use of any club used to take a ball out of a cup is unacceptable....Please purchase a suction cup if you are unable to bend over and pick up your ball from the cup... As always, I ask all the Members to please keep your course in good shape by replacing divots, fixing ball marks, following cart signs and raking traps...
We had our final Mixed Scotch that went really well with a good time had by all ......We have a number of Members who will be representing Woodland Greens in The Mulligan Interclub Qualifying Tournament .........The Wed. Night Ladies & Men's League is winding down....However, the Wednesday Night Men's League have decided to continue with a " Fall" Golf League starting up on Wed. Sept. 14th...The MONEY LEAGUE continues GENTLEMEN!! The Friday Night Couple's League is just about over and as always, it was a great time for all the Couples...An "End of the Year" Couples League Banquet is scheduled for the end of September....
I am looking forward to our Final Member Guest and Member Member in September...and in October, the "Senior Open" is offered to golfers of ages 55 & over. Also, a Glow Ball Golf Tournament is scheduled for the end of October....... I am hoping for some good turnouts! Be sure to check out the Upcoming Events Schedule for all the dates of future Tournaments and Banquets.....Please get involved and SUPPORT your Club....
So for now, enjoy the sunshine and your Golfing Days here at Woodland as the summer winds down and Fall creeps on in... Have a Great Labor Day Weekend.... Wherever you go, whatever you do, make it a SAFE Holiday!!
Enjoy & Happy Golfing!

Tip of the Month
HOOKING
PROBLEM: Hitting the ball with a closed clubface, causing shots to curve to the left.
The first thing you should do is check your grip. The Vs in each hand should point over your right shoulder. If they point farther right, your grip is too “strong” and could produce a closed face and a hook at impact – when the hands return to their normal position. If your grip is proper and you are still hooking, try weakening your grip by gradually moving both hands to the left.
Check your stance to make sure that your feet, knees, hips and shoulders are parallel to your target line. One cause could be the ball location. If it is too far back, it could produce an excessive in-to-out swingpath.Grip club more in the palm of your hands, rather than the fingers, to reduce wrist action and premature closing of the clubface.
Make sure that your left wrist is not too relaxed at impact. If it is, your right wrist will take over and close the clubface too early. On the downswing, make sure that the action begins with your legs and body to guard against wrists unhinging and closing the clubface too soon.
