Captain's Comment

Welcome back Members for a new season of Golf at Woodland Greens Golf Club.

I hope the winter break gave you an opportunity to relax and recharge for the challenges of a new year.

A Special welcome to our newest Members joining our Club. I wish you every opportunity to enjoy the Course and have fun!

I am very excited this year about our newest edition, our website.  Also, I do hope that our monthly Newsletter, (Woodland Turf Talk) will help you plan ahead and get involved with the many Tournaments, and events that we have scheduled for our upcoming 2005 Golfing Season.  It will be published on the first of each month and sent directly to your home via e-mail.

I do hope you will enjoy it. So be sure to keep yourself updated with all the upcoming Events,Tournaments, Tournament Results, Specials, and latest news by visiting our new website, www.woodlandgc.com.

The winter always seems to take its time giving way to Spring, but eventually the warmer weather will be here and we will be back on the Golf Course.

As always, Woodland has planned a season of great golf for our Members and Guests. As usual, our season begins in April, with the annual Season "KICK-OFF", which will be held on Friday, April 8th, at 7PM.

Please come join us for free Appetizers & Beer. You will be able to meet the Tournament Committee. If anyone is interested in helping out, this is a good time to get to know the members of the Committee and your services will be greatly appreciated. I encourage everyone to attend this meeting.

With confidence that this will be an exciting and rewarding year for us, I offer you my best wishes for an enjoyable, successful season at Woodland Greens Golf Club.

 Happy and enjoyable golfing!

Friday Night Couple's League

Hi everyone,

In spite of the never ending winter, it is time to think about our Friday Night Couples League. For those of you that played last year and are interested in playing again, please call or e-mail me at the address below.

The "Fun" Friday Night Couples League will begin on Friday, May 6th. We again will be teeing off between 4:15 and 5:45 with assigned tee times, format will be the same as previous.

For anyone interested in joining the group, please know that this a fun/social league, we do keep score and standings but nothing of serious nature. If interested and would like more information, please contact me at the address below.

Thanks,

Roger Thibodeau ~ 401-294-9468 ~ E-mail: thibrog@cox.net

The Golf Course

The course at Woodland Greens continues to improve due to the careful guidance and expertise of our qualified staff.

Our hard working grounds crew have been working diligently to get your course in the best condition after a long severe winter. You can all attest to the extreme severity of winter weather we had this past year.

Our grounds crew will continue to work to get the course in the best condition for your Golfing pleasures.

To keep your course in the best condition for a better Golfing experience, please remember to replace your divots, fix ball marks, follow cart signs and rake traps. Look forward, Don't look back! This will help play move along a lot quicker and enhance a great golfing experience.

  • Smokefree Public Place and Workplace Law:
As you are all aware, On June 29, 2004, Governor Donald L. Carcieri signed into law a bill passed by the RI General Assembly that prohibits smoking in public places and workplaces in Rhode Island. The “Public Health and Workplace Safety Law” took effect on March 1, 2005. This law will protect Rhode Islanders at work and in public places from the effects of secondhand smoke. The law ensures a smoke-free environment for business owners, employees, and the public.

Rhode Islanders will reap the health and economic benefits of being smoke-free.

So Remember: NO SMOKING IN THE CLUBHOUSE
