Captain's Comment

Hope everyone enjoyed the 2009 Golfing Season. My grounds crew worked hard throughout the season keeping the Golf Course in the best condition possible for you, the Members. Unfortunately, this is our last Newsletter of the Season. The next Newsletter wil be published in April 2010. You can renew your 2010 Membership Applications online at www.woodlandgc.com. Many thanks to the Tournament Committee who volunteered their time throughout the Season. It is a time-consuming job and the Committee has done a great job! It has been a great Golfing Season that just flew by. Most of the time the weather was great which made playing conditions good for everyone!

The RIGA GHIN Handicap transmissions will continue throughtout the "off season". The last Season End transmission & Revision for Handicaps will be on Nov. 11th...Handicaps will continue to be updated during the "off season" once a month. So continue to post your scores during the "off season"....."Off Season" begins Dec. 1st.

You can continue to post scores throughout the winter whether you play here in Rhode Island or elsewhere. The only thing you need to remember is when you are out of state, you sign in as a Guest Score Posting. You will then have to enter your GHIN number, not your local number. ( You can only use your local number at Woodland) Use your GHIN number out of state...... Your GHIN number can be found on your handicap label.... Once you enter your GHIN Number, everything else from there is self explanatory. Their rating and slopes from that particular course and the name of the course will already be in the system, you will only need to type in your GHIN number and your name...Once you post that score, all that information will then be routed to your Home course, Woodland Greens..... The 2010 Handicap Season will start up again in March 2010.

For now, I will sign off till next Season. Thank you again for all your support and participation. I want to wish each and everyone of you a Happy Thanksgiving and a great Holiday Season! Enjoy your Winter. Whether you stay here in RI or settle somewhere warmer ~ Stay Heathly and Safe and I hope to see you all in the Spring!

Dave

Condolences...

To the family of David Adamonis Jr. who lost his father, David Adamonis Sr. Dave died of cancer after a four year battle. He was 62. In 1980, David Adamonis Sr. founded the United States Challenge Cup Junior Golf Foundation, which has become one of the most successful junior golf programs in the country. Woodland Greens hosts 3 or 4 of these tournaments a year for these young players. He leaves behind his wife Roberta of 43 years, sons, David Jr., who now runs the U.S. Challenge Cup Junior Golf Foundation, Brad, a PGA Member and a daughter, Kimberly. Our deepest sympathy to the ADAMONIS family!

Golf Tip of the Month

Try to keep your body in shape through the Fall and Winter with golf stretches and some aerobic activity so that you can maintain your stamina once you hit the course again next season.
