Where Did The Summer Go?
It is hard to believe that Fall is upon us and September has come to an end. It is remarkable how the days are becoming shorter. The temperatures are still pleasant, however, it is truly cooler in the mornings; a sure reminder that colder weather is on its way. With Fall slowly creeping in, some of the best golf weather is yet to come. Mother nature is not yet done and the Fall season has much more to offer. Just because summer has ended, don't think the golf season has as well.
Our Member Guest went well with great golf, fine food and a
few First time Winners! The Member Member had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather. It is now scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 5th. Also, the Senior OPEN has been changed to Sunday, Oct. 12th. Please make note of this change.
The "End of the Summer" League Banquets were held....Both the Women's "Wednesday" Night League and Friday Night "Couples" League all had their Banquets awarding prizes to the Winners and presenting SPECIAL Awards to some! The Wed. Night Men's League will be held this month. Thanks to all the volunteers who did a remarkable job in running the Leagues. It is not an easy job, so I thank you all for your patience and time!
The last Season End transmission for Handicaps will be on Nov. 11th. The Off Season starts Dec. 1st. You can continue to post scores throughout the winter whether you play here in Rhode Island or elsewhere. The only thing you need to remember is when you are out of state, you sign in as a Guest Score Posting. You will then have to enter your GHIN number, not your local number. ( You can only use your local number in RI and your GHIN number out of state). ..... Your GHIN number can be found on your handicap label.... Once you enter your GHIN Number, everything else from there is self explanatory. Their rating and slopes from that particular course and the name of the course will already be in the system, you will only need to type in your GHIN number and your name...Once you post that score, all that information will then be routed to your Home course, Woodland Greens.....
Your "2009" Golf Membership Applications can now be found on the web.. Please visit our website www.woodlandgc.com to get yours...
Although this will be our last scheduled newsletter for 2008, don't put those Golf Clubs down just yet.....Play, have fun and enjoy the Fall Season with some great golf.

Golf Tip of the Month: Re-Tool, Re-Shape and Re-Build Your Game For Spring
The golfing season is nearing the end for many players. It's time to consider preparations for next season. If you're interested in making equipment changes, Fall is the time to do it. You can test different golf clubs and you'll find good pricing from the retailers.
Take the time to get fitted by an expert club fitter making sure that you have the correct length, loft, lie and grip size. Visit the practice range to become accustomed to your new clubs so they don't feel foreign next spring.
Try to keep your body in shape through the Fall and Winter with golf stretches and some aerobic activity so that you can maintain your stamina once you hit the course again next season.
So this month's Golf Tip is to get fit physically and mentally to enjoy your best season ever!
