Captain's Comment

Welcome back members for a new season of Golf at Woodland Greens Golf Club. I am happy to have our past Members returning and would like to extend a special welcome to our newest Members who have joined our Club. I take pride in representing such a fine Club and together with my family and work crew, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you.

Each Spring it is so exciting to welcome the many familiar and friendly faces back to Woodland. We are truly delighted to see our friends return and have the opportunity to make new ones.
I do hope that our monthly Newsletter, (Woodland Turf Talk) will help you plan ahead and get involved with the many Tournaments and events that we have scheduled for our upcoming 2006 Golfing Season. It will be published on the first week of each month and sent directly to your home via e-mail.

I do hope you will enjoy it and find it to be a good source of what is happening at your course! So be sure to keep yourself updated with all the upcoming Events, Tournaments, Tournament Results, Specials, and the latest news by visiting our newest website, www.woodlandgc.com.

As always, Woodland has planned a season of great golf for our Members and Guests. Our season begins in April, with the annual Season KICK-OFF", which will be held on Friday, April 7th, at 7PM. Please come join us for free Appetizers & Beer. You will be able to meet all the working Committees. If anyone is interested in helping out, this is a good time to get to know the members of the Committees and your services will be greatly appreciated. I encourage everyone to attend this meeting. If anyone has any questions, this is a good time to address them.

With confidence that this will be an exciting and rewarding year for us, I offer you my best wishes for an enjoyable and successful season at Woodland Greens Golf Club.
My best for a great season of golfing!

Submit Score Cards: After posting your score, put your score card in the box.

Handicap Postings: Handicap Revision's are done every two weeks.

Weekends: Members ONLY on the course until 11. You are allowed to bring up to three guests.
Threesomes and foursomes are MANDATORY before 11 and after 11 the PUBLIC is invited. Every effort will be made NOT to have a single golfer or twosome go out at this time. This policy will apply to both club members and to the public.

Smoke-free Public Place and Workplace Law: As you are all aware, on June 29, 2004, Governor Donald L. Carcieri signed into law a bill passed by the RI General Assembly that prohibits smoking in public places and workplaces in Rhode Island. The “Public Health and Workplace Safety Law” took effect on March 1, 2005. This law will protect Rhode Islanders at work and in public places from the effects of secondhand smoke. The law ensures a smoke-free environment for business owners, employees, and the public. Rhode Islanders will reap the health and economic benefits of being smoke-free.

So Remember: NO SMOKING IN THE CLUBHOUSE!

Golf Tip of the Month: Don't Shortchange Your Short Game

Chipping and putting account for more than half the strokes in a typical golfer's game. Consequently, you should devote most of your practice to your short game. I like to use a football analogy here: It's great to be able to advance to the two-yard line, but it won't mean a thing if you can't make it into the end zone!
